Forgiveness is Often Better than Punishment
Forgiveness is a great human quality. It means letting go of anger and giving a person a chance to improve. A forgiving heart brings peace, happiness and strong relationships. It also shows kindness and humanity.
Sometimes punishment is necessary, but it does not always change a person's behaviour. On the other hand, forgiveness can help a person understand his or her mistake and become a better human being. Therefore, forgiveness often creates love, trust and respect where punishment creates fear.
However, forgiveness should be given wisely. Serious mistakes should not be ignored, but whenever possible, we should encourage change through understanding. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” Let us choose forgiveness whenever it can bring goodness and peace.
