On Wednesday, January 27, schools across Maharashtra that had earlier been closed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus resumed classes for standard 5th to 8th.
According to reports, students will be admitted to the school only with the consent of the parents, and instructions regarding the same have been given to them. Moreover, the teachers are required to take the RTPCR test for COVID-19 in view of the pandemic.
On the other hand, along with the disinfection of the school, it has been made mandatory to follow the rules of social distancing. Tests have been started at primary health centers, rural and sub-district hospitals in the taluka as well as government hospitals in Sangli-Mirza. Moreover, the Municipal Corporation has also provided facilities in the health centers.
According to the standard operating procedures laid down by the education department, 50 per cent of students in these schools are to attend classes on a rotational basis. Similarly in the first few weeks, schools will conduct classes for three hours from 11 am to 2 pm.
Meanwhile, there are over 106,000 schools that teach Classes 5 to 8 in Maharashtra with close to 8,000,000 students enrolled according to the data of the Unified District Information System for Education (U-DISE), 2019. Except, Mumbai, schools in most parts of the state are expected to reopen for Classes 5 to 8 on Wednesday.
