Textbook Paragraph
While playing the game of gilli-danda, two friends came to measure the distance covered by gilli. One had a slightly shorter stick, while the other had a longer one. For the game of cricket, they decided that the distance from the stumps to the bowling point should be measured as fifteen steps. But where to mark the other end? Both of them measured the fifteen steps distance. The results were different! Why did this happen? What could be the reason for this confusion?
💡 Simple Explanation
Two friends wanted to measure how far the gilli had travelled while they were playing gilli-danda.
They used sticks for measuring the distance. However, one friend’s stick was shorter and the other friend’s stick was longer.
Because the sticks were not of the same length, the two friends could get different measurements for the same distance.
While playing cricket, they decided to keep the distance between the stumps and the bowling point equal to fifteen steps.
Both friends walked fifteen steps to mark the other end, but their measurements were different.
This happened because the length of each person’s step was different. One person may take longer steps, while another may take shorter steps.
