Make a model of a laboratory thermometer using materials like a plastic tube, coloured thread etc. Organize an exhibition of such models under the guidance of your teacher.
Materials Required
Cardboard strip
Transparent plastic tube
Coloured thread
Small plastic cap

Glue or tape
Method
- Take a long cardboard strip and give it the shape of a thermometer.
- Fix a transparent plastic tube vertically at the centre of the cardboard.
- Place coloured thread inside the tube to represent the liquid column.
- Fix a small plastic cap at the lower end to represent the bulb.
- Draw equally spaced scale markings and write temperature values beside them.
- Label the bulb, plastic tube, coloured thread and temperature scale.
- Display the completed model in the exhibition under the guidance of your teacher.
This is only a model for understanding the parts of a laboratory thermometer. It cannot measure actual temperature.
